bird body | 2025

BIRD BODY | Charles Allis Art Museum | April - September 2025
Birds migrate thousands of miles into the unknown together, trusting that there are better conditions ahead. Your animal body has this same instinctual wisdom. BIRD BODY presents a way to build a relationship to our bodies, to our emotions, to the interconnected nature of all things, to the birds, the ground, the lake, the dark, and the light. The bird and human forms remind us that our bodies communicate to us. When we listen, we might feel sparks of excitement glowing in our chest. We may witness powerful currents of grief washing through our broken hearts. How brave it is to unravel our numbness and observe our insides with gentleness and curiosity. Like looking underwater with goggles on. Or observing a fossil at the beach. Practicing this kind of receptivity can uncover something more true and alive in everything and in ourselves.
