Liberation Practice: Bird Puppet Parade | Charles Allis Art Museum 2025

Inspired by the way birds shift and migrate as a flock when conditions no longer serve them, this intention-setting workshop prompted participants to reflect on collective movement and the feeling of freedom. Through yoga, meditation, and journaling, participants reflected on what liberation feels like in their body, how they gather support, what they hope to contribute to their community, and their wishes for finding collective freedom. 

We wrote our intentions on fabric feathers and attached them to the giant bird. We paraded with the giant bird, twirlers, music, and egg shakers to celebrate and send our wishes into the sky to prepare our imaginations for the growth needed ahead!

This experience was a collaboration between artist, Hattie Grimm, and yoga teacher, Haley Fuhr..
